Simon Kabu is the CEO of bonfire Ventures, the most preferred travel agency in Kenya.He is from a humble background, born and brought up in Mukurweini, Nyeri, He took up odd jobs such as working as a matatu tout on Route 44 to raise fees for his university studies where he was pursuing Economics and Statistics at Moi University. Driven by passion and love for Kenyan wildlife; he and his wife Sarah Kabu started Bonfire Adventures seven years ago with a capital of Ksh.20,000 and today, Bonfire Adventures is a Multi-Million Shilling Company.
They capitalized on social media to market themselves, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Google+, which were the platforms where they had their first virtual office before getting space at a brother’s premises.
Bonfire Adventures recently bagged a couple of awards. First, they were ranked fifth in the KPMG Top 100 Mid-Sized Companies Awards 2015, and secondly voted by the public as the Best Use of Social Media under Small Middle-Sized Enterprise (SME) at the OLX SOMA Awards2016
