JackyVike was born and raised in Nairobi’s Eastleigh estate before going to Western for her high school education. She is the third born in a family of five. Unfortunately, her younger brother passed on in 2010 and also lost her father when she was young. So it’s her, her mom, older brother, and two sisters.
After completing her secondary education, she came to Nairobi where she started acting literature set books.Narrating how she ended being Awinja, Jacky said:
“I had once gone to an audition, and Charles Bukeko alias Papa Shirandula was one of the judges. He loved my work, but unfortunately, I did not land the role. A year later the Papa Shirandula team created the Awinja character which I got selected for.”
Initially, Jacky was skeptical about the role because she had never before acted a character with an accent. Awinja is also a professional dancer and a Yoga instructor.
No one saw it coming. No wonder, everyone was caught flat-footed when popular radio host and celebrated actress took to social media to reveal that she was pregnant.
She got pregnant last year at the end of September (months after her traditional wedding) and this got her worried that it would affect her career especially due to the timing which was during the time when entertainers get many jobs
On the 3rd of June 2017, she gave birth to a bouncing baby boy.
I find Vike quite intriguing as she is currently one of the most famous entertainers in the country. However, unlike others, she can still go about her business without floods of fans interrupting. There is only the constant stare of people trying to recall where they “met” her.This is of course due to her elegant, chilled out fashion which is totally opposite from Awinja’s mshamba (up-country) dressing.
